Static QR codes
A static QR code stores the destination directly inside the code.
For a URL, scanning reveals or opens that URL.
Advantages include:

- no redirect service required;
- no dependency on a tracking provider;
- predictable destination;
- easier long-term maintenance when the destination itself is stable.
The limitation is that changing the destination normally requires generating and redistributing a new QR code.
Choose the right content type
QR codes can represent more than web links.
Common types include:

Use the content type that matches what you want the scanner to do. Then test on multiple devices before printing.
Keep URL destinations stable
For printed materials, the physical QR code may remain in use for years.
